The toughest par 4 on the back nine, this hole unfolds like a story into everything that is the Briar's Creek experience. If the signature hole represents every aspect and character of a course, then this may be it. Bunkers intimidate the tee shot on both sides. The predominant breezes draw your gaze left across the marshlands that epitomize the Lowcountry. As you approach your second shot, the rest of the hole is revealed. The green is protected on the left by an encroaching marsh. You become thankful for the bunkers left that protect a player from a muddy grave. The twisted brotherhood of oaks are the pictorial backdrop for your long iron approach. The subtle swamp short and right of the green becomes a noticeable challenge to avoid, and the green itself can be tricky and unforgiving. If this description sounds poetic, you'll think differently when you play it. This hole can be diabolical. |
