Waterways, Live Oaks & Wildlife
The slow-moving waterways of Johns Island are home to thriving populations of birds, plants, fish and wildlife. In addition to countless natural ponds and waterways, our recreational lake and canal system provides some of the best ways for your family to experience the natural beauty of Briar’s Creek. Spend a peaceful afternoon amongst the sprawling canopy of ancient Grand Oaks. You may also enjoy sunset fishing from one of the many private docks along the lake. Maybe you will haul in one of our trophy-class largemouth bass!
As South Carolina’s first Certified Silver Audubon Signature Sanctuary, Briar’s Creek is home to American Bald Eagles, Wood Storks, White Ibis and other rare native and migrating birds. From our specially designed course management and maintenance facilities to specially built shelters and water features, every aspect of Briar’s Creek is designed to support and enhance this incredible wetlands ecosystem.
Audubon International recognizes Briar’s Creek as a natural sanctuary that is environmentally friendly.
